What its all about!

The Rolestown Community 5K Fun run is a non-profit community event run in support of Fingal Ravens GAA sports facility upgrades & donation to Rolestown National School, both of which will benefit the local community. New Juvenile Pitch, walking track with additional Astro facilities & parking are on the wish list. It is a family friendly event designed to encourage runners and walkers from Rolestown, Swords, Oldtown, St Margarets, Ashbourne, Garristown the Naul & Ballyboughal come experience the beautiful Rolestown countryside & support our local community on Sunday 19th May between 10-12.30am.
Fingal Ravens GFC would like to thank out Main Event Sponsor Gym Plus who have locations in Swords, Ashbourne and Drogheda.

Phase 1 Elites: 10:00

Phase 2 Sub 30min: 10:02

Phase 3 Sub 40min: 10:04

Phase 4 Walkers & Kids: 10:05

The course is carefully chosen to keep it off the main artery roads while enabling a post run celebration event at Fingal Ravens GAA. The Event is not Chip or Token timed. A Finishing clock will be provided for Gun time verification. Prizes will be given for Male & female 1,2,3, & Best Fancy Dress. Parking will be provided at Fingal ravens GAA & also Rolestown National School area’s with 1500m walking route to Fingal Ravens GAA. There will be a post run celebration event from 10:30 to 12: 30 with DJ.

Local Musicians encouraged to be present along route to give musical encouragement.

-> Post finish walk to Fingal Ravens GFC.

Roads will have traffic restrictions/closures per the traffic management plan & open for resident access when safe under traffic Marshal & Event coordinator direction.
1KM walk back to Fingal Ravens post finish line.

Road Closure Management Plan

Here are the traffic arrangements for the Rolestown 5k Fun Run Sun May 19th @ 10am.

Road closures 9.30am to 11.45am on Sunday 19th May 2024.

The roads in question are:

  • Rolestown, Fingal Ravens GFC Kileen to Rolestown Church. 9.45am to 10.35am. In this timeframe Cars may exit south bound if ahead of Race Lead Car under Marshal direction. Once Lead car passes, Car must wait until trail car passes, then roads will be opened. Cars approaching from North to wrens nest lane to exit onto R122 will be open under marshal direction once trail car passes. Wrens nest Lane fully by 1020am.

  • Rolestown, Rolestown Church to Lispopple Junction. 9.45am to 10.50am. In this timeframe Cars may exit church road east bound only if ahead of Race Lead Car under Marshal direction. Once Lead car passes, Car must wait until trail car passes. Once trial car passes, church road west bound will be open and east bound open once trail car passes. Leisure cyclists arriving over bridge to Lawn Gates will be diverted east bound on church road if ahead of lead car and via R125 if not.

  • Rolestown, Lispopple junction to Drishogue Junction 9.45am to 11.30am. In this time frame Cars may exit Northbound only if ahead of lead car via Fingal Ravens or Ballyboughal under Marshal direction. Note Fingal Ravens to Rolestown church won’t be fully open until 10.35am. Wrens nest on R122 open by 1020. Once lead car passes cars will have to wait until trail car passes when the road will be fully open.

  • Rolestown, Drishogue Junction to Fingal Ravens GFC. 10.00am to 11.45am. In this time frame walkers will be on the road returning from finish line at Drishoge junction to Fingal Ravens GFC. It will be possible to exit under Marshal direction. 15km/Hr Max. Not expecting first runners to arrive on this section until 10:16am

  • Rolestown, L5061 (From R122 to Wrens Nest - Rolestown West). 9.30am to 10.30am. In this time frame leisure cyclists will be diverted via R122 to avoid heavy event traffic. Road will fully close at 9.45am and reopen once trail car passes circa 10.20am. note Wrens Nest Junction traffic will be diverted south bound after L5061 opens.

Alternative routes available for vehicular traffic are as follows:

  • Motorists travelling from the north of Rolestown and Ballyboughal, north of Drishoge junction to Swords St Margarets Oldtown, should use the R122 or R108.

  • Motorists travelling from the South of Rolestown to Ballyboughal, & north of Drishoge junction to from Swords, St Margarets, Oldtown, should also use the R122 or R108.

  • Motorists Traveling East and West across Rolestown can use the R125 or R129.

  • Motorists Traveling East along Church Road follow diversion along R125. West bound traffic along church road is unaffected.

 

Pedestrians, Emergency Vehicles and local access will be facilitated by local marshals. Diversion signage and marshals will be in place for the duration of the closure. Passing of trail vehicle will enable road to reopen by Marshals.

Orders placed by May 2nd can be collected between 6:30 - 8:00pm on 17th-18th May in Kettles Country House Hotel or pitch side on the day of the event. Orders after this date will not be available by race day and can be collected Friday 31st May. Note this item will be in black with sponsor logo on the front.

Arrival Info and Getting There

Race Day

  • Arrival and Check in open from 8:30 - 9:00

  • Please park by 9am: Fingal Ravens car park closes at 9:20.  Field parking and Rolestown West road close at 9:45am.

  • Note No Car Access on Rolestown West road (Lawn Gates to Fingal Ravens GFC) after 9:45am.

  • After this time Cars will be diverted to Rolestown National school parking followed by 10min walk. (you will miss the start)

  • Warm-up: From 9:20

  • Race: 10:00 Sharp

By Car

Parking is available at 

  • Fingal Ravens Club: Note this car park will close at 9:20

  • Field Parking: Radar Field next to Fingal Ravens. This closes 945am Sharp

  • Rolestown School with walking access (approx 15 mins) via Farm Road.

 

Note: Road Closure is from 9:45 and there will be no access after this time.

 

By Foot

Separate walking route is available from Rolestown National school Roundabout past the pitch via Farm Road. 

By Bus:

Rolestown is served by the 197 between Swords and Ashbourne. Timetable

By taking registering or taking part in the Rolestown Community 5K Fun Run you agree to the following: 
 

5K Fun Run 

Certain event elements may not be possible due to weather or operational constraints and the organisers do not guarantee provision of these elements of the event if operational or weather reasons don’t allow.
As a once off fundraising event there is a no refunds or exchanges policy for event entry, T shirts or Hoodies.


Injury Waiver

I/entry holder understand that participating in this event is potentially hazardous, and that I/entry holder should not enter and participate unless I/entry holder is medically able and properly trained.
I/entry holder confirm that I/entry holder DO NOT have any injury, disease or medical conditions that would prevent me/entry holder from taking part in the event or endanger myself/entry holder or any other participant.
I/entry holder understand the nature of the event and I/entry holder fully accept that I/entry holder take part totally at our own risk.
In consideration of the acceptance of this entry, I/entry holder assume full & complete responsibility for any injury or accident which may occur while we are travelling to or from the event, during the event, or while we are on the premises, parking or transit areas of the event.
I/entry holder are also aware of and assume all risks associated with participating in this event, including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, effect of weather, traffic, and conditions of the road/water. I/entry holder, for myself and my heirs and executors, hereby waive, release and forever discharge the Fingal Ravens GFC, event organizers, race officials, Land owners sponsors, promoters & each of their agents, representatives, successors and assigns, and all other persons associated with the event, for all liabilities, claims, actions, or damages that may be against them arising out of or in any way connected with my/entry holder participation in this event, however caused.
I/entry holder understand that this waiver includes any claims, whether caused by negligence, the action or inaction of any of the above parties, or otherwise. Participants in this Event are not covered by the GAA Injury Benefit Fund.  Each individual should ensure that they have cover in place in the event of an accident as per their own individual requirements. The organisers strongly advise against the use of an headphones or a similar device whilst participating in the event. You may not be able to hear instructions or safety warnings from our stewards. Be aware that even closed roads will have course vehicles and Emergency vehicles passing competitors. IF YOU CANNOT HEAR, YOU ARE IN DANGER
